By 2030, over 500 million people are expected to have hearing loss requiring rehabilitation. This is not only an issue for aging Australians, young people are also at risk of permanent hearing loss from listening to loud music, gaming and our increasing use of headphones.
World Hearing Days is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world.
This year’s theme focuses on changing mindsets around ear and hearing care for all ages.
Giving someone their hearing back can be life changing.
Experiencing bad hearing increases self-isolation, self-confidence is rattled, and independence can be disrupted. Good ear and hearing health plays a key role in our overall enjoyment of life. Hearing aids allow people to socialise, stay in touch with friends and family, and not struggle having phone calls.
We can all take steps today to ensure good hearing health throughout life and understand the best way to support those living with hearing loss.
Start with an easy to access online hearing test then follow up with a full hearing assessment if needed.
“Just as regular eye tests are essential for your health, hearing tests should be too. Let’s break the stigma—hearing aids are no longer big, bulky, or expensive. Taking care of your hearing is as simple and important as taking care of your vision”
Davina Ross, Head of Commercial Excellence at Bloom Hearing Specialists.
We sometimes think of glasses as fashion accessories, hearing aids not so much. Modern technology and brilliant design are changing this and today’s hearing aids are discreet, sophisticated, and adaptable to the unique needs of every patient. With miniaturisation and discreet design, noise cancellation and reduction, connectivity and smartphone integration and energy efficient batteries, patients are enjoying a much-improved experience.
